Psalm 27:5 (January 23rd)

“5 For he will hide me in his shelter in the day of trouble; he will conceal me under the cover of his tent; he will lift me high upon a rock.”

The psalmist gives us three actions to show God’s perfect protection and security in our lives. He begins by saying that God will hide us in His shelter when trouble comes. All I can think of is the picture of a mother bird sheltering her young under her wing amid a storm. It may be pouring rain, lightning slashing through the sky, and thunder shaking the trees roundabout. Yet, you and I are safely hidden in the shelter of the wings of our Saviour.

Not only that, He will conceal us under the cover of His tent. God will ensure you are adequately hidden from what would be too much for you to bear. It may not seem like it with the amount of suffering in your life, but God has already held back the floodgates of this world to keep you from drowning. Keep treading water; God is good and keeping you in this moment. Lastly, we look to our Saviour, who places our feet on solid ground. Where the world has no stability, no security, no eternal comfort, you and I get to experience the bliss of our heavenly Father placing us up high on the rock so that the flood waters of this life cannot sweep us away. Praise be to God!

Grace and Peace,

Pastor Dan
