Psalm 16:5-6 (January 9th)

“5 The LORD is my chosen portion and my cup; you hold my lot. 6 The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance.”

To choose or not to choose. We wake up each morning with the same options placed before us. My dear friend, what will you do today? Do you not see that the lines have fallen for you in pleasant places? Have you not tasted how God has been so gracious to you? How He has kept you back from certain sins? Do you not feel how your suffering could be so much worse? Do you not understand that you could have been missing that promise that He redeems and uses all of your sorrows for your utmost good this morning? Do you not understand how great of an inheritance you have in the Lord?

Oh, that we would learn to rest in the fact that God holds our lot. He decides the hand we are dealt. Any other hand, one with less suffering, more success, and less persecution would actually be a curse on us. What a profound truth to lay hold of this morning! I will choose to rest in the fact that God has chosen the hand I have been dealt today and has decided with perfect judgment that this is the absolute best thing that could be done in, through, and around me.

May we take time to choose this morning to thank God for the perfect hand He has dealt us in this life and humbly submit to His perfect will in our lives. I know this sounds simple, but it is so difficult because we are so weak. Cry out to Him for help and strength to do this this morning. I believe in you, dear Saint.

Grace and Peace,

Pastor Dan
