“1 Preserve me, O God, for in you I take refuge. 2 I say to the LORD, “You are my Lord; I have no good apart from you.”
What a beautiful prayer. What a lovely plea to our holy God. Preserve me! Keep me! Save me! I find myself seemingly praying this daily. Lord, keep me from sin, keep me from the enemy, keep me eternally, keep me useful, etc. Our lives could be impacted dramatically by simply praying these things more regularly. Faith to move mountains is borne out of God creating that in our lives. God creates that through the means of us crying out to Him for it.
Do you pray like this? You should today because the second verse is true. God is where all of our good comes from. He is the source, the originator, the sustainer, the inventor, the giver of everything and anything good. It all comes from Him and goes back to Him because He is good. Let me draw us to Psalm 107:1-2.
“1 Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good, for His steadfast love endures forever! 2 Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he has redeemed from trouble.”
Let this be continually on our tongue today. God is good! No matter what is happening in our lives, what people may say, or what others may do…God is good! Keep your mind focused on the goodness of God today. As you do, God’s goodness will permeate everything in your life. From your speech to your thoughts to even your perception of events throughout the day, God’s goodness in your mind will change all these things for the better. God is not sometimes good or, most of the time, good. He is perfectly good. What a good thing to think of as you go about your day!
Grace and Peace,
Pastor Dan
