“14 The LORD will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.”
You might miss that this verse is smack dab in the middle of Pharoah’s army closing in on the Israelites. Ready to eradicate them…and God miraculously parted the Red Sea just five verses later. What a fascinating picture of God’s faithfulness and sovereignty in the lives of His beloved children.
Similar to the Israelites, we can find ourselves thinking that we need a savior who will stop whatever is coming against us in this life. Yet, God is so in control that He just might open up an entire sea and let you walk through it to remind you how in control He is. There is a natural tension in our lives of desperately desiring some semblance of physical comfort from a God who is Spirit. It is in moments like this where we must fight for faith. Faith is silent…the Lord is the one who fights the battles. Listen to David speak of it in Psalm 131:2.
“2 But I have calmed and quieted my soul,
like a weaned child with its mother;
like a weaned child is my soul within me.”
Be reminded today that the most blessed position for you to be in…is the suffering you are in, the battle you are in, the struggle you are in. WHILE you trust in the Lord, quietly and peacefully like a baby that no longer needs milk rests against its mother. Rest in the fact that God is the fighter, and you are His sweet child in His arms. The battle is already won, in a sense. Let the tension go. Walk in a childlike faith today!
Grace and Peace,
Pastor Dan
